Thanks for a great career, Antoine.

Antoine Agudio's last collegiate game is coming to end. Hofstra cut a 18-point defecit down to three but couldn't finish the job. Agudio hit a late three to make it 79-63, padding his point total after breaking the school's 43-year-old scoring record earlier in the moth.

Pecora is letting him stay in his last game to the final whistle. Towson is putting up baskets off fouls and running out the clock.

Agudio final three, with less than three seconds and there's the final horn. Hofstra loses 81-66 in the first round of the CAA Tournament. '

Thanks for reading. I'll try to get some post-game material.

See you next fall

It's tough to complete a comeback when you go five possessions without scoring. Hofstra's gas tank is running on empty as Towson went up 65-50 with 2:36 left. But the crowd is already anxious for the start of the William and Mary-Georgia State game coming up at 2:30. It's one of the few times a crowd's size increases as non-close game comes to an end.

Almost Over.

It's 1:53 P.M. Disregard the time on the bottom:

Towson just got two defensive stops and leads 60-50 with 3:13 left. Hofstra's comeback hopes appear to be slim now. The Tigers continue to beat the Pride's press. Outside of some big plays, the artists formerly known as the Flying Dutchman will see its NIT appearance streak halted at three.

Close but still not there yet.

Dane Johnson was tagged for an intentional foul. Williams hit one of two free throws, but the foul gave two free throws and Towson possession back. Not a smart foul.

Agudio hit free throws, making it 55-50 with 5:08 left. Towson called timeout and currently has possession.

Some people are starting to fill in the second deck of this three-tiered arena.

Cutting it close

Agudio generated a steal and dished to Charles Jenkins and its close to 51-48. Hofstra was down 31-13 at halftime. Stay tuned.

Quick Improvement

Hofstra is still down 13 but already looks more in control than the first half. Full court pressure is making it difficult for Towson to get into sets and the Pride are driving to the basket and Agudio is starting look more comfortable from the field.

The crowd is slightly more in favor of Towson than Hofstra, but the feeling is most of the fans are for the later games and just came early to watch some extra basketball. The polite applause is fitting for a CYO game, and most of the applause for baskets is coming from the Hofstra cheerleading section.

First Half Disaster.

"Disaster." That's probably the kindest thing coach Tom Pecora said to his team at halftime after his team shot 13.8 percent from the in the first half. Agudio shot 1-9 from the field in the worst half of the season for a Pride team. Hofstra finished 4-29 in the opening 20 minutes, g o down 31-13 to Towson. The Pride will most likely score more than 26 points, so look for a second-half surge from a determined group. The only problem is that the run might come too late to salvage the season.

CAA Tournament First Round

Antoine Agudio is 0-3 on his first three three pointers in a first round matchup between eighth seeded Hofstra and No. 9 Towson . The Tigers lead 9-8 10 minutes in the first half in the very first game of the CAA Tournament here in Richmond, VA.

The Richmond Coliseum is the Virginia equivalent of the Nassau Coliseum: 1970s-era relics with little charm. The outside of the structure is depressing and the inside would look acceptable if not for the hideous purple-yellow-teal color scheme that harkens back memories to what an ABA arena could have looked like over 30 years ago.
